You can make a difference!

Pet Finders

Now let’s look at some of our new programs...

Offsite Adoption & Foster Care

  • Offsite adoptions increase our adoption rates. Getting the animals to the people gives them a better chance! This takes volunteers who will help transport and care for animals at adoption sites around the local area.
  • Shelter animals are lonely and need socialization.  The more they are loved the more they love, and that my friend, makes them more adoptable!  Volunteers can exercise them, give treats, train them, pet and play with them. Loads of fun!

Awareness and Cleanliness

  • Our humane education program gets our message out in the community. Volunteers can help set up classroom workshops and fun educational presentations when we go into schools and communities.
  • The animals are in constant need of a clean, disease free environment. This will help save their lives!! Cleaning may not be fun, but help is needed to keep the shelter free of communicable animal disease.
  • Grooming and washing the animals helps socialize and prevent spread of disease at the same time!!

Here is a list of some ways you can really help our animals as a Traditional Volunteer

  • Cleaning the adoption areas to help keep them healthy.
  • Socializing them to keep them friendly and happy!!
  • Grooming, and training them to make them more desirable.
  • Assisting customers with adoption
  • Washing mats, animal dish bowls and pet beds also, to prevent deadly disease

Being Caddo Parish Animal Services Volunteer Staff Member is the ultimate way to support the humane movement in the shelter.

Our volunteer staff members make it possible for us to task Parish employees with positions that work full time in preventing animal euthanasia!!! Some of these positions include:

  • Adoption coordinator
  • Pet retention counselor
  • Animal trainer
  • Vet care coordinator

As a Volunteer Staff Member, the animals depend on you to devote a few hours every week!!

Our Volunteer Staff Members are an intricate part of our life saving programs.
To be a Volunteer Staff Member, we ask that you be willing to fill a volunteer time block (usually three hours a week) on a day that is convenient for you, or be able to help with special events.

You must be at least 18 years of age, and follow the volunteer guidelines.

To be a Traditional Volunteer, you simply come to the shelter at your convenience.
If you are not 18 you have to be accompanied by an adult.

We consider all of our Volunteer Members a part of our team and as a token of appreciation they receive:

  • Milestone awards
  • Achievement awards
  • Various certificates
  • Public service awards
  • Award pins and more
